My Why

I am running because I am concerned about the divisiveness in politics, and the world, right now. We need more collaboration and innovation to solve our problems, not more taking sides, blaming, and shaming. The major issues facing us in healthcare, education, and affordability are issues that need to be addressed for all of us.

My senior parents moved in with us last year and access to health care and support for seniors are top of mind for me. My partner does not have a healthcare provider and suffered an injury last year and we have had to piecemeal together aftercare for him. My doctor, which I am extremely grateful to have and fear losing when she retires, lives in another city which has impacted my access to care. I am frustrated by all of this and I believe we can do better.

I have been a single parent. I learned to balance a budget and make ends meet, to successfully manage my time and priorities so I could work, go to school, and raise my children in this province. I will bring that same persistence and determination to serving in government.

Experience

I have spent the last ten years working in research and innovation with post-secondary institutions, researchers, industry, and government partners to support economic growth in New Brunswick. I spent six years working in the applied research office at NBCC. I have seen firsthand the amazing work being done right here in our province and the commitment of the people doing the work. I am an advocate for research and innovation as a pathway to proven and practical solutions.

Prior to working in research and innovation, I spent ten years working in non-profit organizations developing and delivering programs and services for people navigating social, economic, and interpersonal challenges, with a particular focus on supporting women and girls.

I have held various leadrership positions and sat on numerous committees and working groups. I value collaboration and am always seeking to build relationships and bridge the gap between knowledge and action.

Volunteerism

Some of the volunteer work I done:

I have served on the Parent School Support Committees at three different schools, Frank L. Bowser Elementary School, Riverview Middle School, and Riverview High School.

I have twice served terms on the YWCA Moncton Board of Directors and was an organizing member of the Homeless Hotel Steering Committee.

I was invited to be a member of the Voices of NB Women working group.

I was a peer support mentor for new mothers coping with postpartum depression.

I helped establish a grassroots organization that lobbied government to bring midwives to New Brunswick.

Education

I have an undergraduate degree from Mount Allison University and a Master of Applied Health Services Research from the University of New Brunswick. My graduate research focused on maternal mental health which was driven by my volunteer work with new mothers.
